ISBN 9781923333185
This 16 Bible study disciple-making guide is suitable for both small groups or individuals. This material is easily understood and applied.
Studies 1 to 7
These first sections look at, what is a Disciple of Jesus through the eyes of Matthew 4:19? A disciple of Jesus is a person who follows and learns to live like Jesus did, being changed by Jesus, and committed to Jesus’ mission of disciple making.
Next the 5 stages of spiritual growth. From spiritually dead, to a spiritual infant to a spiritual child to a spiritual young adult to a mature spiritual parent. Why do we need to know this? Because too many Christians today stay in the infant or child stage for years and never reaching spiritually maturing. Then this Bible study guide looks at, what people say in each spiritual stage and how we can help move ourselves and others forward to maturity.
Then we have an extensive look at the three directional moves along Jesus' Disciple Making Path.
1: Move from disconnecting to connecting –
share to win, then connect.
2: Move from informing to preparing –
build to move.
3: Move from accumulating to sending –
train to send.
We also incorporate walking within the increasing features of the Disciple Making Path.
Increasing oneself, a follower of Christ.
Increasing spiritually mature disciples for Christ.
Increasing workers for service.
Increasing workers for the harvest.
Increasing leaders and one’s ministry.
With all the areas in disciple making, we believe the only primary pursuit in disciple making is speaking God’s word. One way of doing this is Storytelling Jesus’ Story. Storytelling is a fresh and simple way for people to re-tell or speak a small portion of one of Jesus’ stories, and they can learn it in the relational environment of a small group or growth group.
Studies 8 to 16
As a practical application, the small group participants will go through nine (9) Storytelling Jesus' Stories, as a part of the main pursuit in disciple making, to speak God’s word, in the relational environment of a small group. After the story there are discussion questions and a discussion pages for the group to go through.
At the rear of the book, there are “Leader’s notes” and an “Appendix page” with the author’s “YouTube videos, titles and internet addresses”. These are available separately for you to look at, if required.
